==ASE-Definition (dt.)==
Im Kontext des IPEK-X-in-the-Loop-Ansatzes wird stets das zu untersuchende [[System]] (System-in-Development bzw. System-under-Investigation) im Kontext des Gesamtsystems und in Wechselwirkung mit den Connected Systems betrachtet. Die Einschränkung auf eine Einbindung der zu untersuchenden Systeme in stets virtuelle Umgebungen wird hierbei aufgehoben – in welcher Art und Weise die Wechselwirkungen der beteiligten Systeme berücksichtigt werden, muss in der jeweiligen Situation bzw. in Abhängigkeit des [[Verifikation| Verifizierungs-]] bzw. [[Validierung]]sziels spezifisch definiert werden. So können rein virtuelle, rein physische oder auch gemischt physisch-virtuelle Ausprägungen entstehen. Zudem kann das zu untersuchende System auf unterschiedlichen Systemebenen vorliegen – vom Gesamtsystem über Teil-Systeme bis hin zum einzelnen [[Funktion]]skontakt auf [[Wirkflächen]]ebene.

Die Integration dieser Zusammenhange wird im IPEK-X-in-the-Loop-Framework dargestellt. Hierbei werden die möglichen Systemebenen des zu untersuchenden Systems aufgezeigt sowie die Möglichkeiten, dieses virtuell, physisch oder auch gemischt virtuell-physisch darzustellen. Letzteres ist auch fur die Connected Systems in selbiger Art und Weise möglich.

==ASE-Definition (engl.)==
In the context of the IPEK-X-in-the-Loop approach the System-in-Development or System-under-Investigation, respecitvely, is always considered in the context of the overall system and in interaction with the Connected Systems. The restriction to an integration of the systems to be investigated into virtual environments is removed - the way in which the interactions of the systems involved are taken into account must be specifically defined in the respective situation and depending on the verification or validation goal. Thus, purely virtual, purely physical or mixed physical-virtual forms can arise. In addition, the system to be investigated can exist on different system levels - from the overall system to sub-systems to individual functional contacts on the active surface level.

The integration of these interrelationships is illustrated in the IPEK-X-in-the-Loop framework. The possible system levels of the system to be investigated are shown as well as the possibilities to represent the system virtually, physically or also mixed virtual-physically. The latter is also possible for the Connected Systems in the same way.
