==ASE-Definition (dt.)==
Das System „Umwelt“ im [[IPEK-X-in-the-Loop-Framework]] beinhaltet alle äußeren Faktoren, die auf die [[System]]e „Fahrzeug“ und „Fahrer“ einwirken und damit seinen Zustand beeinflussen. Dabei findet eine beidseitige Wechselwirkung bzw. gegenseitige Beeinflussung statt.

Der Begriff „Umwelt“ wird häufig mit „Umgebung“ gleichgesetzt. Nach Jakob Johann von Uexküll allerdings, wird zwischen den beiden Begriffen unterschieden. Alle Individuen bewegen sich in der gleichen Umgebung, erfassen und beeinflussen aber jeweils „nur“ ihre eigene Umwelt. (Beispiel: Das Bakterium lebt in der gleichen Umgebung wie der Mensch auf dessen Haut es lebt, erfasst und beeinflusst aber eine andere Umwelt).

==ASE-Definition (engl.)==
The system "environment" in the IPEK-X-in-the-Loop-Framework includes all external factors that affect the systems "vehicle" and "driver" and thus influence its state. Thereby a mutual interaction or mutual influence takes place.

The term "environment" is often equated with "surroundings". According to Jakob Johann von Uexküll, however, a distinction is made between the two terms. All individuals move in the same environment, but each one "only" perceives and influences its own environment. (Example: The bacterium lives in the same environment as the human being on whose skin it lives, but perceives and influences a different environment)
