Im Sinne der Schematheorie meint Assimilation die Zuordnung einer wahrgenommenen Situation zu einem subjektiven Schema. Im speziellen Sinn des Musteransatzes bedeutet Assimilation die Aufnahme der durch das Muster repräsentierten Information durch den Anwender. Aus dem expliziten Muster wird eine implizite Vorstellung beim Anwender erzeugt.

Assimilation, in terms of scheme theory, is the assignment of a perceived situation to a subjective scheme. In special terms of pattern approach, assimilation is the user's acceptance of the information represented by the model. An implicit conception is produced by the user from the explicit pattern.
